Event Description:

Storytelling - Why Your Business Cannot Survive Without It

Storytelling has emerged in the last decade as one of the most effective ways to communicate information to others. Bullet points on Powerpoint slides have been shown to be archaic and ineffective. As important as storytelling is, it may surprise you to learn that many people in the marketplace are poor storytellers, and thus, ineffective communicators. This workshop will introduce you to the basics of effective storytelling, why we as business owners should learn to do tell stories effectively, and how we can use personal stories to move others to understand your business better.

About the Presenter:

Jeff Polish (Executive Director of The Monti) earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. Upon completion of that degree, he left academic research to pursue teaching. He then left teaching to run The Monti full time—an obvious career path. Jeff also consults with businesses on how to communicate effectively through storytelling. His past clients include Duke University, TEDMED, and FHI360. Jeff received a 2013 Indies Arts Award and has been profiled in Science, Our State Magazine, Southern Living, and Garden & Gun.
