Event Description:
One of the biggest challenges running a non-profit organization is being fiscally sustainable.  How can charitable organizations be self-sufficient while maintaining their sustainable mission?  At our August roundtable the Chamber is pleased to introduce the following speakers to guide our panel discussion:

Ann May Woodward, Executive Director of The Scrap Exchange
Barbara Jessie-Black, Executive Director of PTA Thrift Shop
Bonnie Ashley, Director of Habitat ReStore of Durham and Orange Counties

They all share a common expertise in re-use economy and have demonstrated the know-how in managing multiple income streams and operating efficiently to grow their organizations.

Speaker bios:
Bonnie Ashley has more than 10 years of non-profit management experience and is currently the Director of the Habitat for Humanity Restore for Orange and Durham counties. During her time at the ReStore, Bonnie has increased its’ capacity to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable housing in our community and divert reusable materials away from the landfill.  Bonnie’s areas of expertise include organizational efficiency which has helped to reduce expenses without compromising the strength of the non-profit mission.

Ann May Woodward has been in the reuse industry for over 20 years, and is the current executive director of the Scrap Exchange, a non profit creative reuse center located in Durham, NC. The organization’s mission is to promote creativity, environmental awareness and community through reuse.
She is also an artist, likes to pick up garbage, and participate and create events where people can interact, learn something and hopefully change the way they look at resources and consumption.
