North Carolina’s proposed Amendment One is bad for business. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce opposes Amendment One and asks each of our 1,100 employer members and their 80,000 employees to vote against Amendment One.
The proposed amendment will interfere with employers’ ability to recruit talent and their right to provide competitive benefits to their employees. It also signals to employers, employees, and entrepreneurs that North Carolina is not welcoming to the diverse, creative workforce that we need to compete in the global economy. We should not do anything that diminishes any enterprise's or individual's interest in locating or remaining in North Carolina.
You can join other business leaders in opposition to the Amendment here. Additionally, if you are interested in more resources to educate your employees and customers about the negative impact of Amendment 1 on business, click here.
Orange County Board of Commissioners Please look for Chamber communication in the next few days which will include information about Orange County commissioner candidates, including their responses to our questionnaire. Both District 1 and District 2 have contested primaries, but Chamber staff and members have interviewed every candidate.
If you have questions about the Chamber's participation in local elections, please contact Kristen Smith, director of public policy and member engagement, at 919-357-9988 or at ksmith@carolinachamber.org.
