As a veteran of the West Coast punk scene of the 70’s and Texan, born and bred, Escovedo took punk’s freewheeling ethos and applied it to the musical lexicon he built over the years of listening to everything from country and rock-and-roll to Cuban Jazz and Mexican ballads. Now, a nationally-renowned solo artist, Escovedo received the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Performing in 2006 and continues to zigzag his way across the world, solidifying his status as a true American songwriting icon.
